For the first time since we started our monthly event centered around the youth, we are having a young person moderate. We could not have made a better choice.
Dominic was one of our best mentees in our mentoring program and he has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. But don't take our word, see for yourself ...
Dominic Jaikaran, 17 years old, graduated from Cathedral Catholic High School in June 2020. He was President of the Active Valor Club, Team Captain of the Wrestling Team, and lead tuba player of the CCHS school band. He earned the Caritas Award and The President’s Volunteer Service Award (gold) for serving 1000+ hours in his community. He was the only Senior selected on the West Coast for the Mission Give Back Foundation scholarship. Also, he was the Vice-President and Historian for the Dr. John Arrington Mentoring Program.
Dominic has chosen to take a gap year through Verto Education and study abroad his Freshman year. He will take online classes plus travel to Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand in the Spring. He will attend the University of San Francisco in Fall 2021 as a Sophomore. He will study Forensic Anthropology so he could pursue a career in law enforcement.
Dominic’s summer plans have included serving food to the homeless in the Southeast and Downtown communities, sailing and wakeboarding on Mission Bay, rock jumping, traveling and spending quality time with his family and friends at the beach.
